There is nothing like gathering a group of friends to try a popular Michelin Star restaurant. Not just to glug the lovely wine on offer but to feast!
In a restaurant such as this a seven course tasting menu to get a good flavour of everything is a must!
Gymkana is an Indian restaurant in the heart of Mayfair and i’ve heard nothing but good things, so I had to try for myself. It is inspired by Gymkhana clubs where members of high society wine, dine and play sport. On arrival we were escorted to the private dinning area, it was pretty cosy for a table of 15 but the space managed to work. It had a very underground chic feel due to the interiors shape!
Where to start, well the popadoms with Gymkanas Mango Chutney was heaven and if the meal stopped there I would have been happy, incredibly moreish stuff.
The dishes came out one by one, all meticulously presented on the plates. Vegetarian options were offered with no fuss. It took a little time for the food to arrive but for such a large group, i’ll let that slide. There was plenty of wine flowing….not to mention the cocktails!
The rest of the food was delicious, a new twist to the usual Indian restaurant style all the dishes were inventive and not too heavy.
For something different, a dinner party perhaps, Gymkhana has an exciting take on Indian cuisine with a fine dining touch.
