Review Starskin Foaming Peeling Perfection Puff

I had never heard of Starskin until my recent trip to the Cheeky Salon Holborn, when I treated myself to this Foaming Peeling Perfection Puff. But I am very late to the party, the brand has amassed much acclaim, awards and press coverage. So I was looking forward to learning more and testing it out!

Starskin prides itself on its work with with dermatologists, aestheticians and makeup artists-to-the-stars to reveal the secrets behind celebrity skin. Hence the name – product formulations are developed and informed based on those we admire on the red carpet. The multi award-winning range is also free from parabens, silicone, mineral oils, sulphates and synthetic dyes. Products are also PETA-certified, so not tested on animals.

But let’s look at the product in question.  The Foaming Peeling Perfection Puff promises to buff away dead skin cells to reveal a glowing complexion. The Glowstar patented puff is infused with a blend of natural Alpha Hydroxy Acids, and Carrot and Broccoli extracts to remove dead skin. The treatment boasts helping to reduce wrinkles and brighten skin tone. It’s to be used after cleansing to enhance the absorption and penetration of the active skincare ingredients.

Having tried it once I was impressed with the result, it is advised you apply to the nose and forehead for 2-3 minuets and despite my shorter cleansing time I still found my skin to look incredibly fresh, smooth and rejuvenated. The effect is lasting as well the glow and improved skin texture continued in the days following application. When applying makeup it was apparent the condition of my skin was much softer. In terms of an instant effect, I found this a more dramatic result than some other exfoliation products out there.

I would say though – go easy on water application – I overdid it slightly and the puff was a little more foamy than required which led to more of spread than was ideal. I did get some near my eye which was a bit uncomfortable – but nothing major. I am on the more sensitive side and this didn’t irritate my skin but had I gone in hard for the three minuets it may have got there. I’d advise other sensitive skin users to also air on the soft and cautious side with timings and application.

I would definitely get the Foaming Peeling Perfection Puff again – this is a perfect pick me up for dull or tired skin this winter! You’ll see an immediate difference. In terms of value, I paid £8 and can use three times. Application guidelines are to use 1-2 times per week which means results for two more weeks! All in all this is good value for money, considering you can spend a fortune on a facial and this may give you a similar result. Will be purchasing again and trying more of this range for sure.
