Temperatures are dropping and we are covering up. This time of year, when knitwear is welcomed out of storage and pins are protected in tights, fake tan can be less essential. I mean except for party season, let’s not carried away. But less exposure means more opportunity to embrace the paste! For me, everything becomes soft, English rose to complement my complexion.
Getting the right foundation shade is key, I love Estee Lauder, historically I was a huge fan of Double Wear in Bone. This is great for very fair skin, giving such a flawless complexion and full coverage like no other, great for battling oily, blemished or pigmented skin. Is there anything this foundation won’t cover?! And it lasts. In more recent years I am using Double Wear Light, I have actually settled on this in shade Intensity 2 rather than 1. Intensity 1 was a little too light for me and in the transition into autumn I even added an ever so small drop of Rimmel Instant Tan in Light Matte, whilst my mini tan from my summer holiday faded away. This is a great way to soften a shade too, if it’s a little too light for your liking.
When going au naturale, soft and subtle blush works best. You can see five of my favourites here but to recap a little! The Body Shop, Shimmer Waves, in Blush is a baby pink which is also like highlighter, so very flattering and emphasises cheek bones too. Benefit’s, Rockateur, rose gold blush has a hint of sparkle too! This brightens up cheeks and makeup without creating a harsh contrast with your foundation.
Cerise and gold tones finish off this soft makeup perfectly. Some of my favourites are Body Shop, Colour Crush, shade 13. This rose shade is a nice moisturising lipstick. It’s pink but still not overbearing and a nice natural choice to brighten up day makeup. It also has a little bit of glitter that creeps through and could lead nicely into the evening. Another favourite for every occasion is Rosie by Autograph, Lip Glossy, shade Supermodel Smile. This is a rose gold, soft gloss that’s perfect for a day when you need to brighten up your look or if you’re heading out for after work drinks. It leaves lips feeling nice and soft as well as full and luscious.
If you want to channel that iconic Twiggy look with very fair makeup, pink lips and of course those statement eyes, Rimmel, Exaggerate Liquid Eye Liner is easy to use with a solid brush to assist unsteady hands with application. For lashes that look so long and curly they could be fake – it’s all about Benefit Roller Lash Mascara. This creates some serious flutter that will always get you noticed.
