When an amazing offer for Hawksmoor restaurants popped into my inbox, I couldn’t of clicked fast enough. I’ve heard only great things and have wanted to go for ages. I love a ‘nice place’ that pulls off a relaxed atmosphere and when we arrived here it was immediately obvious that Hawksmoor does this best.
Admittedly, it’s wooden panes and basement setting have more of an autumnal feel but given the lack of summer this August, this was perfect for a rainy evening. Plus cosy rustic interiors are my fave.
After arriving to a friendly reception and a guided stroll through a buzzing bar to our table, we were seated amongst many happy diners. We were taking advantage of the ‘seasonal menu’ AKA an absolute steal with a cocktail and three courses for £30!
So we started with our cocktail which was the perfect aperitif, lovely fresh and light. For starters we had the Potted Beef, which was as it sounds and accompanied by two giant Yorkshire puddings and gravy.
We were really pleased to see that even steak was available on the seasonal offer menu. Although we added on sauce, this was also accompanied by triple cooked chips. The creamed spinach was a surprise favourite. All of which were amazing and tasty and the chips especially crunchy!
You certainly get your money’s worth over three courses! But after a much needed little breather over some tasty Rioja we were ready for pudding. My Passionfruit Cheesecake was tangy and sweet with white chocolate flavour. It tasted as good as it looks. While the Sticky Toffee Pudding was as always a safe choice.
This is a real foodies choice with thoroughly good food. Keep an eye out for offers if its on your list, it looks like there is often an opportunity to shave off a few pennies and you certainly won’t leave hungry.
