Like many of us, I am guilty of putting my hair through heat and colour trials. But despite my love for the perfect waves, poker straight look or shade of blonde, I still hate the dryness and damage that comes with it. Heat and bleach treated hair needs some love from moisture and protein. Sadly, I am yet to find a miracle cure but as my hairdresser wisely once said, you have to think what your hair condition would be like if you didn’t use treatments. Here’s my fab five:
1.Kerastase Reflection Chroma Riche
One of my original most loved hair treatments. This made it into my essential kit during my uni days, longer ago than I would care to admit and when it was even more of a luxury on my tight budget! It has a gorgeous rich texture and smell. It’s quite low maintenance as even if left on for just the duration of a shower this will make a difference on your hair. It leaves mine smoother and softer with a better appearance when styled. Perfect if you are looking for rich moisture.
2.Redken Extreme Strength Builder Plus
This has been used on my hair post bleach in salons and recommended to me by more than one hairdresser for damage limitation. In the next breath the Redken Supersoft also gets an honourable mention. They also tell me you can use too much protein and this can have the opposite effect. Be warned fellow hair treatment junkies, you really can have too much of a good thing. This is great if you bleach your hair to give it a boost, especially just after you’ve had your colour done. A great strength builder for thin and damaged hair.
3.Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment
Anyone who has used Lee Stafford will know that most distinctive smell. Although saying that, if you prefer something less fragrant and neutral this may be too much for you. This is kind on the purse strings and easily accessible as stocked at Boots. If you want affordable quality from the high street this is a good solution that does the job in assisting hair that’s endured a lot of heat or colour. This is designed to reduce the common snapping side effect of damage. Not only does it leave hair feeling nourished but smelling great!
4.Keune Bond Fusion
This new treatment most easily accessed in hair salons aims to bond, build and boost your hair’s inner structure. It’s a three step treatment that is used during colouring to reduce damage. Phase two was used on my hair in salon after bleach and did noticeably impact the condition. It didn’t feel as dry and the effects last for a few shampoos. This is primarily a salon product but can be purchased online as well. I expect we’ll be hearing more about this up and coming favourite.
5.Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Colour Mate
Don’t want to splash out and have to order online? Another great option you can pick up in Boots and maybe even the supermarket is Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Colour Mate. Another great smelling product that will leave your hair super soft and ease symptoms of damage . It’s also perfect in a hurry, as needs to be left in for just a few minutes.
