Spring Essentials

Spring has sprung the temperatures are warming up (mostly) and it’s time to re-introduce some seasonal favourites.

SensatioNail Express Gel One Step Polish

The no makeup makeup trend and nude shades are still reigning strong. I have just discovered SensatioNail’s Express Gel One Step Polish in I Sleep Bare Naked (that’s a shade not a very cheeky confession). This is a great choice if you want a long lasting gel that you apply at home. You need an LED lamp to apply but that’s well worth the investment if you are tempted considering the long term saving. This gives a good finish with (almost) no chipping for five days. I love nude polish as it goes with everything! So this is a great staple for spring season.

Estee Lauder Pure Colour in Crystal Nude

Nude lips are the perfect company for nude nails. There are so many choices out there for nude lipstick but I love Estee Lauder’s Pure Colour for its creamy and conditioning finish. This glossy lipstick has such a nice texture, really rich and moisturising. So much so, I reach for this instead of lip balm. It’s not too nude but a nice natural shade that can work in the day and transition with you through to the evening.

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette 2

If you want to add a bit more to the stripped back look, Urban Decay’s Naked Basics Palette creates natural highlights that still accentuate your eyes. These neutral shades are incredibly versatile and will complete almost any look or outfit. If you prefer a matt finish eye shadow this is the perfect palette for you. Whether you need a mute brown for the office or a subtle smoke for cocktails these shades can create your desired look.

Marc Jacobs Daisy

Spring is the perfect time to make that move from muskier deep scents to something more floral and light. Marc Jacobs is a timeless and classic choice: spring in a bottle. A beautiful and fresh scent for the season that stays fragrant for hours.

Soltan Once Face

Glycolic and Vitamin A lovers (especially) need to now pay more attention to their skins SPF needs. As the sun is now starting to make an appearance here and there, it’s wise to wear an SPF under your foundation every day. If you use products that increase your skin’s sensitivity to light this is even more essential. I have settled on Soltan Once which lasts for eight hours. I like I now have peace of mind that I am protected throughout the working day. From my experience it is difficult to find a cream that doesn’t mean a somewhat more shiny finish once you apply makeup over it. This product is much less of an offender than most.

Benefit Shine Vanishing Pro Powder

To tame the little of bit of shine I do have from my SPF I use Benefit Shine Vanishing Pro Powder.

This ensures a more matt effect to even out my makeup. This tube is really light and easily slips into your handbag. I use a Body Shop tanning brush to apply in the morning, but if you want to carry around with you, it has a handy little built in brush that will suffice for any required top ups throughout the day.

St Tropez Bronzing Mousse Self Tan Classic

My pale skin and I love fake tan! Especially now we are all daring to bare more and I am revisiting more pastel shades from my wardrobe. There are plenty of good fake tan choices for every budget but this is my absolute, unequivocal fave. I have strayed and experimented but this never fails. It dries on the skin quickly and applies brown, so you are much less likely to miss patches or streak, as you can see where it’s applied. Providing you follow the cardinal tanning rules of exfoliating beforehand and going easy on elbows, knees, ankles and hands. Apply with a mitt and on these parts go light for best results. I use just the remnants left on my mitt to finish these trickier spots. One coat if we talk in paint terms?! Gives a nice natural glow, perfect for your spring wardrobe!
