Social media has been the most fantastic source of information, we are now able to discover and learn about things we probably hadn’t sought after. This is starting to change the way some of us think, what we eat, wear use etc. There is growing interest in products considered ‘cruelty-fee’ so with this in mind I wanted to explore what options there were out there. Amazingly, I have learnt I’m already using a lot of these products, you would be surprised from high street to more high end – FYI did you know Marc Jacobs is a ‘cruelty-free’ brand, definitely my next treat! So here are my top five’s.
- Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation
Again another foundation that personally I would use for more fun/special occasions (I just hate wearing my more expensive products to sit in an office – however to sit in a bar perfect!)
This particular foundation is long lasting with an SPF15 and also claims to be collagen boosting! I love it – it has great coverage without feeling cakey and it lasts and matches like a dream to my skin. I think this one is definitely my favourite.
- Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation
This brand I discovered from the lovely Victoria from Inthefrow, and it’s beautiful. This particular foundation I use for my ‘nice/going out’ foundation due to its very good coverage and durability. I also don’t find it either too greasy or too cakey on my skin with its light creamy texture. I have a light yellowy tone to my skin so I use SB6. Not only is this foundation cruelty free, it’s also vegan bonus!
- NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation
Bit of a mouthful but does what it says on the tin. To be honest, if I wasn’t so in love with my Charlotte Tilbury foundation at the moment this would probably be my number one favourite! Personally I love a foundation that lets the light reflect off your skin and gives a very youthful fresh look. It is very lightweight, so it wouldn’t be a big night out make up for me as I quite like something a bit heavier for that, but brunches and date nights spot on!
- Collection 3 in 1 Foundation
Collection has managed to really rebrand in the last couple of years to become a great high street, affordable make up brand. Its a fantastic range so girls on a budget still have a great selection of products they can access. I like this brand because they are perfect cheaper alternatives for work and popping to the shops make up that’s quick and easy. This product is a concealer, foundation and powder all in one. It is so quick and has a great texture on the skin. And amazingly I find the coverage is fantastic! Perfect for getting out of the gym and rushing off to work if you’re a crazy morning gym person!
- Barry M Flawless Matte Finish
To keep balanced for my 5th choice I have picked another great high street brand that is normally known for its variety of colorful nail polishes! You may not know Barry M is also in the cruelty free team. I have picked the Flawless Matte Finish Foundation. For reasons above it’s great to have a cheaper alternative. What I like about this one is it is oil free so if you have naturally dewy skin like myself then this doesn’t add to it, so your face ends up sliding off towards the end of the day.
